The reason we decided to do a cut finger prosthetic was because of our film. In the film, our actor (Rob) is cutting presents but gets distracted by a phone call from his mother. During his conversation he goes to cut open a box but instead slices his finger open. in the clip we have filled a bottle up with fake blood to squirt over the finger to show all the blood coming out of it. Creating a fake cut out modelling wax and other products was the only way we were able to create the atmosphere and realism of a sliced finger without using CGI. It has been placed in the short video to make the audience feel disgusted by the realism of the finger. The use of make up is completely harmless to our actor so it was useful and safe to use.

We did skin tests to our actor by applying small amounts of each product to his hand to see if any of the products caused a reaction to his skin. Luckily none of them did and we were safely able to carry on with the production.
